Ohio State Parks Volunteer Program

The volunteer program in Ohio State Parks began in 1982 with a handful of enthusiastic folks who were looking for an opportunity to provide a public service and have fun. In the years since the program has grown to encompass more than 5,000 volunteers who donate more than 350,000 hours of service each year.

The program is broken into several categories. These are:
* Individual Volunteers - for adults (age 18 and up), Green Teens (age 13 to 17) and Junior (age 5 to 12)
* Campground Hosts
* Group Volunteers

The opportunities are almost endless. Volunteers assist park staff in building and maintaining hiking, biking and bridle trails, with nature center programs and animal care, in the campgrounds assuring guests enjoy their stay, cleaning up lakefronts and beaches, etc.

It is a program designed for people of all ages, skills and interests, and for singles, couples, families and groups. Opportunities exist that are great for a family to do together, such as Adopt-A-Trail, or service projects for school, church and civic clubs.
