Cowan Lake State Park offers a peaceful setting replete with scenic inlets laden with the American Lotus water lily. Cowan Lake Campground offers 237 electric campsites and 17 non-electric campsites. Campsites 1-15, 64-71, 204-210 are walk-in sites and are not reservable. Pets are permitted on sites 1-60 and 211-237. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance beginning the first day of your arrival date. Camper's beach, boat launch ramp, shower house, laundry facilities, restroom, and waste disposal station facilities available.

Cowan Lake also offers 25 cottages and 2 preferred cottages year round. Reservations are accepted one year in advance beginning the first day of your arrival date. Cottages are heated and air-conditioned. Each cottage sleeps five people and has two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, living room, fully equipped kitchen, screened-in porch and charcoal grill. Cottages are furnished with bed linens, blankets, and towels. Linen exchange provided for seven-night rental only. Preferred cottages also include wood deck, gas grill and gas fireplace. Pets are prohibited in the cottages.

The Campground offers several activities for campers while they are staying at Cowan Lake. The Commissary is open May through October. Bait, food, ice, firewood, and souvenirs are located in the Commissary. There is a game room, putt-putt course, horse shoes, basketball court and bicycle rentals located by the Commissary. The Park Naturalist is on duty Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend to conduct programs on nature studies. The programs include slide shows, campfire programs and interpretive hikes. Click on the Naturalist Schedule at the bottom to see the full list of programs. There are several hiking trails throughout the Park. The most popular trail is the Lotus Cove.
The South Shore Marina is open seven days a week 7 am to 8 pm in the summer months. Winter hours are reduced. Bait, food and fishing license are available. For more information you can contact the Marina at (937) 289-2656.
