Meteor Shower Camp out:
Each year we celebrate the Perseid Meteor Shower by organizing a Camp Out on the public beach area of Caesar Creek State Park. This is a free event and the only time you are permitted to camp at the Public Beach Area.
The event is a family friendly event and gives a great view of the meteor shower. Details for the event are usually established in mid July and will be published on Facebook and here when they are finalized.
This event is sponsored by the Nature Center Association of Caesar Creek (NCACC) an is a very important fundraiser for the organization. All of the proceeds from the sales of food, drink, and merchandise at the event are use to further the work that the Association does for the Park and the Nature Center.
Themes:
Every year has a theme for the Meteor Shower Camp Out. We have had themes such as Super Heroes where we had actual Super Heroes at the event to interact with the kids.
A few different times we have also had the theme of Beach Luau where we really try to recreate a Hawaiian Luau theme at the Beach.
Each year we try to come up with a new theme that will really be fun and interactive for everyone at the event and something that will create last memories for everyone who attends.

Fun & Games/Entertainment:
Part of the event is a multitude of games for the kids. Each year we find new and creative ways for them to have fun and past the time waiting for the big event of the meteor shower.
We always have games for kids of all ages to participate in.
There is also entertainment at the event. In the past we have showed movies until late at night for everyone to enjoy and have had fire dancers to entertain everyone.
Demonstrations and Concessions:
Part of the event is also the education about the State Park, the Nature Center, and just nature in general. Many of our volunteers man different stations to talk about different aspects of the Park and the Nature Center. Occasionally we will have special groups in to talk about the meteor shower and the night sky oftentimes with telescopes to help everyone see the meteor shower even better at night.
Concessions are run by the NCACC group to benefit the organization and its goals. We sell food and drink so no one needs to worry about bringing their own and different merchandise (in the past we have had glow bracelets and flashlights for sale so everyone can see easier at night since it can get pretty dark once the sun goes down).

Bonfire:
The night transitions with our annual bonfire on the beach. This is the only fire/open flame which is permitted for the event and is our transition between the activities an the fun of the day and the more peaceful relaxation and star gazing of the evening.
Be sure to bring your marshmallows as once the fire is lit by our volunteers, everyone an use it to make their favorite summer treat of s’mores!
The night Sky:
As everything gets wrapped up, the night sky takes the stage.
Due to the location of the State Park being pretty far away from most man made light, it becomes an amazing place to star gaze and watch for the meteor shower. No special equipment is needed to be able to watch the meteor shower and at points during the night it can be a truly impressive sight.
